The Wandering Suitcase

Nineteen stops, one lost suitcase, and forty years of secrets.

Professor Bram Wandelveer designed Holland Park — and hid a tribute to a country he'd visited in nineteen of its details. Tonight the neighbourhood turns forty, and he's mislaid the suitcase that was meant to be the centrepiece. Retrace his trail and find where he set her down.

How it works

  1. 1

    Buy the game

One payment of €15. No account needed up front — we'll email your link straight after.

  2. 2

    Gather your team

Share one link and everyone plays along on their own phone, fully in sync. One purchase covers the whole team.

  3. 3

    Walk and solve

Follow the trail from stop to stop. Each puzzle points at a country Bram hid in the neighbourhood's design.

  4. 4

    Collect the flags

Every country you find lands in your passport. Finish the trail and your team joins the public leaderboard.

One purchase, the whole team

You only pay once. Everyone in your group opens the same link on their own phone and sees the same stop at the same time — so nobody's squinting over someone else's shoulder.

What you'll need

  • A charged phone with mobile data
  • Comfortable shoes — this is played on foot
  • Daylight, and no particular hurry
  • A little patience for the tricky ones

How scoring works

Solve a stop unaided and it's worth 15 points. Every hint you open costs 5 of them. The last hint on any puzzle simply gives you the answer, and that stop scores nothing — so there's always a way forward, even when a puzzle refuses to click. A perfect run is 285.

Where it begins

The trail starts in the heart of Holland Park, Diemen, and loops back around the neighbourhood. Your first stop is revealed the moment you begin — no need to find anything in advance.

Before you set off

This is an outdoor game played on real neighbourhood streets, paths, and public spaces.

  • Stick to marked footpaths and bike paths, and stay alert for cyclists and traffic at all times.
  • One stop is near open water — younger players should stay back from the edge and be supervised closely.
  • Some stops are near a working school and local businesses — please keep voices down and be respectful of staff, students, and other visitors going about their day.
  • Play at your own pace in daylight hours; there is no time pressure.
  • If any player is a minor, an adult must stay with the group for the entire game.
  • If anything about a location feels unclear or unsafe, use the map hint or skip ahead — your safety comes first, not your score.

Questions & answers

Everything worth knowing before you set off.

How long does it take?

Most teams finish in two to three hours, including a stop for coffee. There's no timer and no speed bonus — take as long as you like.

How far do we walk?

Roughly 3 km in total, spread across 19 stops in one neighbourhood. It's a stroll, not a hike.

How many people can play?

One €15 purchase covers your whole team. Everyone opens the same link on their own phone. Groups of two to six work best — much larger and it gets hard to hear each other.

Can children play?

Yes, and the puzzles are written to work for mixed-age groups. If anyone in your group is under 18, an adult needs to stay with the group the whole way.

Can we play it more than once?

No — each team gets one attempt, and only your first completion counts. That's what keeps the leaderboard meaningful.

What if we get stuck?

Every puzzle has three hints. The third one simply tells you the answer, so you can always move on. A stop solved that way scores zero points, but it never blocks you.

What if it rains?

The trail is entirely outdoors, so pick your weather. Your link doesn't expire — if the sky opens, go home and pick it up another day. Your progress is saved.

Is the route accessible?

The route follows paved public footpaths and should suit pushchairs and most wheelchairs. A couple of stops involve looking closely at details at eye level or below. If you have specific access needs, get in touch before you buy and we'll talk you through the route.

Do we need to download anything?

No. It all runs in your phone's browser. Keep the link handy — we email it to you as well.

What if I lose the link?

Check your email — we send it the moment you pay. You can also sign in with that same email address any time to jump back into your game.

Can we get a refund?

If something goes wrong on our end, or the game isn't playable when you arrive, email us and we'll sort it out. Once your team has started solving stops, we can't refund the game.

Is my location tracked?

No. There's no GPS and no location permission. You tell the game when you've arrived somewhere — it works on trust.
